Recognizing the relationship between colours and referencing?

The Best Time Is Tea Time
"The Best Time Is Tea Time"
This quote I thought of seems to work the best, and the Hierarchy of wording works well on the page and already sounds like a campaign in itself.
there could be legs within this idea and could be pushed further.

Putting a new source into context
Now that I have undertaken new experiences with working with different substances and working with quotes and styles, its now evident that I need to now put one working experience into 'context', just so that I don't have a set of experiments, and that it shows what I have done can be perused to work in a commercial outcome.

Reflecting on the work so far...
WORK GUIDED BY EXPERIMENTING...
The work I have undertaken is purely experimenting with 'type & medium', however having proceeded to investigate into what works with print and what is not so successful, I can now undertake a specific direction and push further what worked within my experiments.
Although I wanted to create a typographic piece that was something personal and meaningful to me, all the lectures I have spoken to have, stated my work is very commercial, so I have considered something that will direct me to something I can show in my portfolio that reflects my working experiments.
I was very pleased with the outcome of the ground coffee prints, and they reflected on exactly what I wanted to achieve, although I had many set backs in getting it right, I really enjoyed the process of achieving something which didn't work at the start, then eventually achieving my goal.

Ground Coffee Printing
Silkscreening with white acryclic and PVA glue, and hand sprinkled ground coffee onto the wet print in order for it to stick to the paper.
Good success

Superbrands - Food
In this particular Video they talk about Starbucks, but what they discuss is very similar to its rival Costa!!!!
Fast forward to 47:00 for the Starbucks review.
Reflective Response.
Since the beginning of this project I knew I wanted to experiment with typography, inspiration gained from my favorite designers Andre Beato an Anthony Burrel. The main inspiration came from an earlier post which was a print made by Anthony Burrel, where the print says "Oil & Water Do Not mix", and the print is silk-screened with oil & water from the golf of Mexico, and the print was sold in order to raise money for the gold of Mexico oil spill disaster.
I really liked the idea of creating typography that was in the context with what the message was saying. From this experimental idea, I then went on to creating typography with various different materials such as, Wax crayon, ink, Candle Wax, Bleach, Custard, Cream & Tea. I chose these specific substances in order to gain an understanding of what will work in print, and what will not. The messages chosen, are simple enough so that they stay in context with the substances, and they are not just UN-considered.
Having had time to reflect on my presentation last week, I feel that in order for me to continue these experiments with type and message I will need to consider a context for the message to be relevant and not just an experiment. The new way of thinking will reflect on all what I have experimented with so far, however, the set of posters I will make will be personal to me, yet having reason for being up on the wall. the message will be the most important piece of this project, whether the typography reflects the message, and above all whether its is relevant. Of course the message will reflect my beliefs, or what I think what is happening in everyday life, but I will want other people to be able to relate or react in some way.

DESENSITIZED!!
- Make less sensitive.
- Make (someone) less likely to feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering by overexposure to such images.
I want to create a set of posters that are representative to this in some way, I want the poster to be of a specific language that the passer by / the reader automatically thinks it is something to do with selling, when its actually the opposite. However I will do this using the typographic language with the experiments I have undertaken, using hand made type.
The posters will represent what I believe and have views on, but at the same time, if someone was to read the poster they will realise it is something else, and may even relate to it themselves.

PROPAGANDA?
These are some examples of poster / ad campaigns that are not so subtle, as to what I am looking at, but they are good examples of how powerful a message can be.
I want my project to be as subtle as possible.
DIERECTION...
All the experiments below are examples of what is easy to make type out of and what really does not work. I have had a lot of fun creating these little messages using the substances that make them worth there while. I would now like to expand on the idea of creating typography which is in context with the message that is being displayed.
What will now be important is the message, and what I am trying to say. I am now definitely at the half way stage where I now need to focus on what I want out of these experiments.
I am really Kean on the idea of creating a set of posters that specifically say something, but in a discreet non advertising way. whether its to create change or opinion. I am not selling something, I am 'Saying' something. Call it propaganda if you like.
This will be my main driven focus. What will I choose to base my focus on, and why??

About Me
- Dan
- My name is Dan Gorham, currently based in a little village outside of Rye East Sussex. I am a Graphic Designer currently studying a BA in Art & Design with the University of Brighton (Visual Communication Design Pathway), I have 3 A levels in Art & design and have recently completed a foundation degree in graphic communication. My experiences within design, range from working in house with an agency called 44th Hill, to working freelance for clients I have gained myself, all while studying. At this time my work is mostly Visual Identities and 2D print based. I have worked with clients such as Moet Hennessy UK and have had the pleasure of working on conceptual idea based projects for High profile companys, in collaboration with agency 44th Hill. I love to experiment, and I love to tackle challenging briefs.
